OUR MISSION STATEMENT - To strengthen veterans and their families through a variety of services, programs, education and hope.
The Jerry Ambrose Veterans Council of Mohave County, Inc. (JAVC), an established 501(c)(3) public charity, is dedicated to honoring and empowering veterans by providing safe transitional and permanent housing—including the development of supportive tiny home communities—while fostering self-sufficiency through vocational programs such as our community thrift store and greenhouse. JAVC is currently seeking funding to sustain and expand critical services, including our Veterans Homeless Transitional Housing Program, Transportation Program, Veterans Stand Downs and Resource Fairs, Outreach Program, and Opioid Support Program. These programs provide homeless and at-risk veterans with housing, group counseling, vocational training, and employment opportunities at no cost to the veteran. Our mission is to create a stable, nurturing environment that promotes dignity, purpose, and hope for those who have served our country. The benefits to veterans and their families are evident through increased stability and successful reintegration into civilian life, as participants gain a renewed sense of self-pride, purpose, and belonging—often rediscovering the camaraderie they experienced during military service. Our vision is a county where every veteran has access to affordable, stable housing, essential care, and meaningful opportunities for recovery and independence. Guided by our motto, “Giving a Hand Up and Not a Hand Out,” we uphold core values of honor, dignity, community, empowerment, and integrity, ensuring we serve with respect, foster connection, promote long-term independence, and operate with transparency, accountability, and excellence
