KC HOUSE #3 (Naming Opportunity Available)

Kingman Cares is a 501(c)(3) Qualified Charity Organization and community-based nonprofit.  Aside from providing resources to the community, we also maintain two homes dedicated to sheltering vulnerable community members who are survivors of abuse, require home health, wound care, or hospice services.  We work alongside individuals, families, groups, churches, and organizations to meet the need within our region.  We have been told we are the "lifeline across the valley," and we are honored to serve in that role.

In June of 2024, with a lot of heart, effort and teamwork, we opened our first short-term transitional home in Kingman.  Our goal is to provide stability, case management and support.  To motivate, strengthen and encourage our residents to set goals and keep going forward.  It is currently occupied at full capacity.

In 2025, with a little more experience and with great support, we opened a second home in Golden Valley and named it Scars to Stars.  This home is also up and running at full capacity.   Because the need is great and keeps growing, when possible, we house up to 2 individuals per room, in all rooms of each home.  This is only a temporary solution.

In 2026, we are thrilled to announce the acquisition of our third house, which has not been named.  While we were fortunate to secure the property, it requires significant renovations before it can become a fully functional and welcoming home.  We have some materials on hand but need help acquiring others.  Just as important, we need manpower to help assist with the repairs and installation.

Here's a breakdown of the key areas where we're seeking support:

KITCHEN & DINING ROOM: Countertops, and laundry area cabinets, including a counter for a small folding table.  Kitchen & Dining room flooring.

BEDROOMS: Floors, patching up and painting walls, lighting, installation of smoke alarms 

MASTER & PUBLIC BATHROOMS: Installation of a walk-in shower and tubs, flooring, patch up & paint walls, toilets, flooring

OUTDOORS:  Front porch needs to be painted, and roof needs to be replaced.  Both front & surrounding porch needs to be landscaped and need to install fencing and front gate. Also need to purchase and install security alarm system.

MISC REPAIRS & MAINTENANCE:

Little by little, we continue to make improvements to this home. The physical work we do on the house is important, and along the way it builds friendships, shared experiences, and a strong sense of community. But what truly happens inside these walls—the healing, the transformation, and the small miracles—is something that’s hard to put into words.

On our hardest days, what keeps us going is the knowledge that someone’s life may be given a second chance, or that a person will have a safe, warm, and loving place to land while they transition to the next phase of their journey. We think about the many past and present residents, each from different walks of life, all searching for compassion and just enough help to get back on the right path.

Every KC volunteer carries beautiful memories from this work. Some are joyful, some are heartbreaking, but all of them come with a deep sense of gratitude and fulfillment—knowing we were able to make a difference, or at least be part of it.

As humans, we can’t help but think, “What if this was my mom… my brother… my friend?” And we often ask ourselves if we did enough. That question, and the compassion behind it, is what truly makes this effort worth the sacrifice. ❤️

We are excited to share that the home in Kingman, as well as the third home currently under development, have not yet been named. To help us move closer to our goal, we are offering a special opportunity: the first two contributions that come closest to reaching, or that help achieve, half of our fundraising goal will be given the option to name one of the homes. This is a meaningful way to leave a lasting legacy while helping create safe, supportive places for those in need. (Name restrictions apply)
