Like a lot of little girls, I grew up loving the story of Cinderella. I always believed it was the perfect fairy tale — because it showed that anyone, no matter their background, could rise above their circumstances and find a “happily ever after.”
But nowhere in that story does Cinderella wind up in prison.
When I walked through the gates of Perryville, I stopped believing in fairy tales. Incarceration doesn’t just confine your body — it can trap your mind. After a while, you start to believe that dreams aren’t meant for you anymore.
Then something I never expected happened.
Televerde and the Televerde Foundation helped me break through that mental prison. They became my fairy godmother of sorts, but instead of giving me a dress or glass slippers, they helped me rebuild my confidence, gave me real skills, and restored my belief that my life could still be something meaningful.
I was released from prison just a few months ago, and this year I’ll attend Once Upon a Second Chance not just as a guest, but as a 2026 Cinderella.
I’m sharing my story because I know I’m not the only one who deserves a second chance.
I’m proud to support the Televerde Foundation’s 100 Second Chances campaign this Arizona Gives Day. We’re inviting 100 donors to give $100 to help more women access the same education, training, and support that changed my life.
Because for every woman like me, there are so many more still waiting for their opportunity.
If you’re able, I would be so grateful for your support.
Join me in creating second chances.
