Televerde Foundation seeks to help women who are currently or formerly incarcerated combat the implications of incarceration, separation from their children, unemployment, and poverty by preparing them to successfully reenter the workforce, reunite with their families, and reintegrate with their communities. Our mission is to provide currently and formerly incarcerated women with the personal and professional development programs necessary to successfully join and advance in the global workforce. We seek to enable women to break the generational cycle of poverty and incarceration by becoming positive role models to change the lives of their children, future generations and build stronger communities. Televerde Foundation lowers the recidivism rate of formerly incarcerated women by providing support and giving them the skills and support to be successful in the long term. By providing them with the skillsets necessary to obtain and maintain steady employment and reunify with their children, our programs enable women to uplift themselves and their families out of poverty, stabilize their families, and positively improve their and their children's lives overall.
Founded and launched in 2020, Televerde Foundation (TVF) has made great strides toward our goals and mission through the growth and achievement of our organization and programs. Televerde Foundation started in Arizona and experienced rapid growth through our collaboration with the Arizona Department of Corrections, Rehabilitation, and Re-Entry (ADCRR). Televerde Foundation built and launched a Workforce Development Center at the Perryville Women's Prison enabling us to reach and serve more women each year in Arizona.
Our main program is our PATHS (Prepare, Achieve, and Transform for Health Success) program, a three-phased workforce development program focusing on workforce readiness, employment strategies, financial literacy, personal wellness, social, emotional, health, parenting, family reunification, and mentoring to successfully transition women who have been incarcerated into the global workforce.
Since inception, 756 women have enrolled, 455 released PATHS graduates have a 96% documented full-time employment rate, average starting salary of $38,367, and a 0% recidivism rate. In addition, 61% of the women in our programs are mothers, the ripple effect of their success has had a positive impact, on their collective 749 children. The lower recidivism rates demonstrated by PATHS graduates, coupled with strong employment rates, has benefited the state of Arizona, where we started, by helping reduce the Arizona Department of Corrections' $1.5 billion budget for Fiscal Year 2024 for an estimated population of 34,550 inmates (3,200 being female). The success of our programs, has allowed us to create more workforce development centers in the U.S. In 2023 we opened three new centers in the state of Indiana which now serves 150 incarcerated women each year with comparable results.
Employability while in prison gave me back the self-worth and independence that I lost as a result of my incarceration. Further, Televerde's commitment to reentry was key to helping me successfully transition back into my community. Their focus on career readiness and professional empowerment opportunities enabled me to secure a high-paying professional position in technology after my release. Vivian N, Program Graduate
Televerde is doing such amazing work and I'm so honored and lucky to be a part of this team and the work you are doing. Thank you so much for taking such good care of these women and caring about each and every one of them as they look to make a change in their lives and come back home to be with their families.
