Why Your Gift Matters for Colorado Families Right Now

As parents, we all want clean air, safe homes, and a climate that protects our kids now and in the future. We are also juggling rising costs, and with utilities taking up a bigger share of family budgets, this is one place where our voices can make a real difference.

Right now Colorado families are feeling the squeeze of rising utility bills, and the choices we make today will shape our energy costs for decades. Xcel’s new Gas Infrastructure Plan outlines billions of dollars in new pipelines and system expansions. If approved, these projects would be paid for by Colorado families through long-term increases in monthly bills.

These investments also delay our state’s transition to cleaner, healthier energy. New pipelines have lifespans of 30 to 70 years, meaning communities would be locked into volatile gas prices and continued pollution while cleaner and more affordable technologies already exist but are not widely accessible. This is a critical moment for families to speak up and demand better.
