The mission of LISA is to enrich the educational experience of low-income, public school students in the Verde Valley by providing aid directly to students, and indirectly to schools. LISA works to bridge the gap between traditionally available forms of aid and a variety of student needs which impact educational success, holistic student health, inclusion, and self-esteem.

We exist so that each student, regardless of their personal circumstances, has every opportunity to succeed in school and to do so with dignity.

While public schools are considered “free,” some families can face a financial burden due to costs such as school supplies, clothing, books, tuition, transportation, extracurricular activities, field trips, lunch fees, etc.

LISA is unique in that we work directly with school administrators, teachers and social services staff to identify gaps for students from families needing assistance. We then act quickly to fill those gaps, aiming to give students the same opportunities as their peers. Our non-traditional form of aid positively impacts educational success, holistic student health, inclusion and self-esteem.

LISA provides assistance to students for things such as:

• Medical: bills, prescriptions, therapy, etc.• Clothing: shoes, coats, etc.• Hygiene: haircuts, toothpaste, shampoo, feminine products, etc.• Home essentials like beds & bedding• Class tuition• Cafeteria outstanding balances• Book purchases• Admission to school events• Graduation expenses• School supplies and sports equipment• Childcare costs such as preschool tuition• Fees for activities like sports, camps, field trips, etc.• Special events and celebrations.
