MISSION

Our mission is to build relationships and communities for our chronically homeless friends.

We believe that the solution to poverty is dignity and that the solution to homelessness involves a home and a community.

VISION
To make Phoenix a city where no one sleeps outside.

Our vision is to plant transformative communities throughout the Phoenix valley that restore dignity and worth to individuals who have spent years on the streets.

ABOUT

Eden Village of Arizona is a permanent-supportive tiny housing community for the disabled, chronically homeless. Eden Village will provide 21 tiny homes that are each 400 sq. ft. with a bedroom, bathroom, kitchen, and living room. In addition to housing, residents will have access to on-site physical/mental healthcare services, case management, educational classes, and support groups. Our community center will be a space for residents, volunteers, and community members to gather together for events, celebrations, and fellowship. Residents will also have access to our community store which provides dry goods that cannot be purchased with a SNAP card. Residents can purchase necessities at our store using "Eden Village dollars" which can be earned through volunteer and community work in the community and surrounding city.

ORGANIZATIONAL HISTORY

More than a decade of experience has equipped John 1334 Ministries (DBA Eden Village of Arizona) to undertake this project and fulfill its mission of creating a Christ-centered community for the chronically homeless and disabled. Over the past eleven years of serving our homeless neighbors of the Phoenix East Valley, we have come to know, love, and understand the this community as we serve them through our resource center and food truck. By building authentic relationships with the individuals through street outreach and meal services, we can begin to work alongside each individual to help them achieve the ultimate goal of self-sufficiency and permanent housing.

Every year, we serve over 3600 meals and our case managers meet with more than 200 individuals. To expand our capacity to provide housing, we signed a licensing agreement with Gathering Tree, a nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization in Springfield, Missouri. Implementing this model enables to maximize efficiency and ensure meaningful, long-lasting outcomes. John 1334 long history of serving the homeless will enable us to effectively adapt this model, ensuring productive services and comprehensive support for our residents.

TESTIMONIALS

"As a former volunteer meal coordinator, board member and board president of Paz De Cristo, I value and honor the personal relationships your team and volunteers have built. You just don't provide a service, you offer real meaningful relationships to be formed. The folks on the streets honestly can get a meal at a lot of different places. What they can't get on most days is respect, love, a smile and a true sense that someone cares for them."

- Dan Trevino, Board Member of John 1335 Ministries

"La Mesa Ministries and Rick McClellan specifically have been important voices for the community for raising awareness of need and how to provide necessary assistance. Rick and his associates attend and are important voices for a variety of homeless coalitions and interest groups. They stand in the gap for those that have not voice and are important contributors to moving the conversation into action. I am confident that La Mesa Ministries will use every allocated dollar to benefit their clients and be excellent steward of the dollars..."

- Mark Young, CEO of Mesa United Way
