UPWARD for children and families has a long and rich history of serving the most vulnerable children in metropolitan Phoenix. Founded as Arizona's Preschool in 1958 by parents of children with physical and developmental disabilities, the agency was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) organization in 1969.

Upward focuses on special education, adult day program for adults with developmental disabilities, therapy for children with developmental disabilities and/or medically fragile children, as well as infant and child care for those with or without developmental disabilities.
