The Southwest Fair Housing Council

A nonprofit organization

To provide comprehensive services to achieve and preserve equal access to housing for all people.

For the past 30 years, the Southwest Fair Housing Council (SWFHC) has worked diligently to not only help enforce the Fair Housing Act, but also to further the Act's mandate to create integrated communities of opportunity in Arizona and the Southwest. We have fought discrimination in all aspects of the housing market - including rental, sales, and insurance - based on race, color, national origin, religion, sex, familial status, and disability. We have fought predatory lending and financial scams preying on vulnerable members of our communities. We have helped families fight foreclosures and modify mortgages, keeping them in their homes and stabilizing their neighborhoods. We have worked with community partners to advocate for walkable communities, community gardens, and bike lanes. We have worked with community partners to provide institutional support to neighborhoods and grassroots organizations. We are committed to advocating for and protecting advances in Fair Housing law and policy that promote integrated communities of opportunity and provide needed protections for LGBTQ folks, persons with disabilities, veterans, the formerly-incarcerated, non-native English speakers , and other groups that have historically experienced the brunt of illegal housing discrimination and its collateral consequences.
