Every Child Deserves a Story
In Northern Arizona, something wonderful is happening. Children as young as newborns are receiving brand-new books in the mail every month — books chosen just for their age, delivered right to their front door, and entirely their own to keep.
Through our partnership with the Dolly Parton Imagination Library, United Way of Northern Arizona helped put more than 11,000 carefully chosen, age-appropriate books into the hands of 2,138 children across our region in 2025 alone. That's 2,138 kids growing up knowing that stories belong to them.
The Imagination Library was founded in 1995 by Dolly Parton, inspired by her own father's lifelong struggle with reading. Since then, it has grown into one of the most beloved early literacy programs in the world — and the results speak for themselves. Children who are read to regularly arrive at kindergarten more confident, better prepared to learn, and with stronger language skills than their peers.
Just $30 sponsors one child for an entire year of books.
This Arizona Gives Day, we're asking our community to help us raise $5,000 — so we can reach even more Northern Arizona children with the gift of reading. Whether you give $30 to sponsor one child or more to reach further, every dollar builds a stronger, more literate Northern Arizona.
Give a child their story. Donate today.
