Meet Rocket — a little beagle with a giant will to live.

In April 2024, AZ Beagle Rescue pulled Rocket from the e-list and gave him a second chance. When we first met him, he was an older, overweight boy with painful teeth, and ears so infected and full of growths that he could barely find relief. He scratched until they bled. It broke our hearts to see how much he had endured.

Desert View Animal Hospital confirmed what we feared: Rocket’s ears were far beyond what simple care could mend. He was referred to Southwest Veterinary Surgical Services, where specialists recommended total ear ablation on both ears — a major, costly surgery, but the only way to free him from a lifetime of pain. AZBR said yes. Rocket bravely underwent two separate TECA surgeries… and both were complete successes.

Today, Rocket — lovingly nicknamed “Chonky Boy” — is living the life he always deserved.No more agony. No more scratching. Just joy. He’s a big, sweet cuddlebug bursting with personality. He adores meals, snacks, naps, walks, bones, and of course… more snacks. Even with hearing loss, nothing stops him — he still somehow knows exactly when the fridge door opens.

Because of AZBR and the generosity of supporters, Rocket’s world has transformed from suffering to comfort, safety, and love. And we are so grateful to share every happy, chonky moment with him.
