Hispanic Leadership Institute

The Hispanic Leadership Institute (HLI) is a transformative leadership experience that empowers Latinos and community allies to step confidently into positions of influence across business, education, government, and community sectors. Since 1986, HLI has served as a premier platform for leadership development, advocacy, and networking, intentionally centering Latino perspectives and priorities. 

Through a values-driven curriculum, participants engage directly with Arizona’s top leaders and decision-makers, exploring critical issues and discovering how their voices, lived experiences, and leadership can shape a stronger future for Arizona.

Each week, cohort members are briefed on a distinct issue affecting the 0community, with field experts and prominent leaders invited to facilitate discussion and empower participants to effect meaningful change. Interpersonal activities are also integrated throughout the program, providing members with the opportunity to reflect on their personal journeys while deepening their connection, or rekindling their relationship, with their culture and heritage. 

Upon completion of the program, participants are called to make a formal pledge to serve their community within 120 days of graduation. The outcomes of these pledges have been far-reaching, giving rise to the founding of nonprofit organizations, the pursuit of elected office, and the execution of service projects that have generated a lasting, positive impact across the state.
