Whispers from the Verde

People have come to this place not just to see the river, but to hear it. Each season brings a different voice. Spring runs high and energetic, carrying stories from snow melt upstream. Summer softens into a steady whisper. In the fall, fallen leaves drift across the surface, adding their own gentle hush. Even in stillness, the river is never silent. 

Experience is the gift of the Verde - it connects us—to nature, to each other, and to something larger than ourselves. But like any voice, it can fade if not protected. Changes to water flow, habitat loss, and increasing demand all threaten the delicate balance that allows the river to keep speaking. 

Funds will be used to educate and inspire future stewards of the Verde River by creating meaningful, hands-on learning experiences for young children, students, and community members. Through field trips, outdoor classrooms, and programs like BioBlitz and community science training, participants will engage directly with the river—learning how to observe wildlife, test water quality, and understand the importance of a healthy watershed.

By investing in these experiences, we are cultivating a new generation that not only understands the river’s value but is committed to protecting it.

Together, we can raise $200 for educational materials and programming to continue to integrate river-based learning into our work.
