At Lost Our Home Pet Rescue, we exist for moments when life turns upside down. When someone is facing homelessness, domestic violence, or a medical crisis, their pet is often at risk, too. We step in to make sure they don’t have to choose between getting help and keeping their beloved companion.

Your support makes it possible to:

• Provide temporary care so pets stay safe while their families rebuild

• Provide pet food to those struggling to make ends meet

• Rescue and shelter pets with nowhere else to go

• Support first responders with immediate, 24/7 help for animals in crisis situations

Since 2008, together we’ve helped nearly 40,000 pets over 26,000+ people, provided 167,000+ nights of safe shelter to a pet whose family was experiencing a crisis, and fed over 1.33 million meals to hungry pets in need.

But it’s stories like Carmela’s that show the true impact of your generosity.

Despite working hard and recently securing a new full-time job, she and her roommates were struggling to make rent. Soon, she found herself facing eviction and the heartbreaking possibility of living in her car with her two beloved dogs, Mela and Mila.

After losing her housing, Carmela refused to give up her two dogs, Mela and Mila.

That’s when our Temporary Care Program stepped in.

While she worked tirelessly to get back on her feet, we cared for her girls in a loving foster home for 88 days—keeping them safe, together, and loved.

Every week, Carmela checked in on Mela and Mila, determined to do whatever it took to bring them home. During that time, Lost Our Home provided spays, microchips, vaccinations, and all the care they needed - ensuring they would return home even healthier than before— all at no cost to Carmela. The average cost of care in our Temporary Care Program is $1,698 per pet—and thanks to supporters like you, we were able to provide that level of care for both Mela and Mila.

And when Carmela finally secured a pet-friendly apartment, they were reunited at last.

Because sometimes families don’t need to say goodbye forever… they just need a little time.
