Steve Wagner - Founder
As a career firefighter paramedic and critical-care flight paramedic with over a decade of public safety experience, Steve Wagner brings sincere passion to RightCare causes.
His role as a first responder helped him to identify the need for improvement in quality, timeliness and accountability of care in assisted-living.
With a strong belief that patient outcomes would improve greatly if consumers were armed with more information and could get involved with an organization that could help bring about change, Steve Wagner established The RightCare Foundation, a non-profit entity, and set out to create useful tools and resources to empower the public when choosing care providers.
His first priority in establishing a foundation for the RightCare Mission was to create a Patient Bill of Rights that would provide consumers with the understanding of what basic care they could and should expect. An important component, the Customer Responsibilities section, was added in order to create mutual respect, understanding and accountability between consumers and caregivers.
From that first document, it became apparent that other resources would be needed. With the help of other RightCare founding members, Wagner created Consumer Questions and Caregiver Contract documents that would serve as tools for consumers to use to ensure the highest quality of care for their loved ones.
Steve Wagner continues to advocate for best-practice care in local communities and through the RightCare foundation, is pursuing legislation aimed to saving lives and honoring advanced directive wishes in Arizona.
An active member of the community, Steve Wagner serves as appointed Council Member of The Arizona Governor's Advisory Council on Aging (GACA), Member of The Arizona Attorney General's Taskforce Against Senior Abuse (TASA), Champion Member of The Health Improvement Partnership of Maricopa County (HIPMC), Advisory Board Member of Mothers Awareness on School-aged Kids (MASK), an Arizona non-profit, Seed-Spot Alumni and a member of Valley Leadership Class 38.
He is currently employed by The City of Phoenix Fire Department as a medic/Firefighter and has served as a critical-care flight paramedic for AirEvac Services, a service of PHI Air Medical, Inc.
Meet the Right Care Foundation
There are many challenges facing care businesses today.
Insurance companies, Medicare and private payers are not paying, either partially or completely for services rendered. This fact creates obvious financial challenge for care providers. They must choose between providing best-practice care, and the quality of care they feel they can afford to provide.
In spite of these challenges, some care providers continue to deliver excellent care. Others may not. We believe improvements in quality, timeliness and accountability of care can be made in our local communities. We believe as paying customers that we deserve value for our investment in the care we receive.
The RightCare Foundation has developed a number of evaluation tools to empower consumers as they choose care providers.
We encourage consumers to use these tools as a guide to ensure that they and or their loved-ones receive the highest quality care possible and the greatest value for their investment.
We are a non-profit corporation and there is no cost for the use of our consumer evaluation tools. As our mission states, "RightCare believes in a world that is accountable, responsible and obligated to provide the highest quality care for those in need", we exist to continually improve the care we all receive.
