Red Means Stop Coalition

A nonprofit organization

Our mission is to prevent motor vehicle crashes that injure and kill drivers, passengers, and pedestrians in order to honor victims and their families. The Governor's Office Proclaimed, March, as Red Light Running Awareness Month (Every year since 1999)

Red Means Stop Traffic Safety Alliance aka Red Means Stop Coalition, understands the value and importance of educating all individuals about safe driving skills. To meet our goal of ending red light running, we actively participate and plan events to educate drivers. We published a book called "Carelessness is No Accident: Consequences, Victims, No Closure" which is available at www.farabeepublishing.com. We have a mascot named Stoppy the Red Light who goes to schools and events. He has a new book series "The Adventures of Stoppy the Red Light" http://redmeansstop.org/what-we-do/stoppy-the-red-light/. Funding helps Red Means Stop place these books in schools across the valley.

Red Means Stop's Teen Driver Education Program uses funds to place teens and young adults in driver education when they do not have access to this education at school and their family has a financial hardship that would prevent them from the ability to pay. Red Means Stop has graduated over 50 students in this program which put many safe, responsible drivers on our roads.

Red Means Stop attends safety events around the state where give-a-way items are distributed to help keep the public reminded of traffic safety. Some donations will be used to keep an ample supply of items for future events.

Red Means Stop has a speakers' bureau where we talk in schools and safety events. Brochures and posters are given out at these events. Funding would help us increase the appearances.

Testimonials

Deanna Jordan, military widow, responding to the Teen Driver Education Award for her triplets.
"I feel so relieved that they will each get the same amount of attention, training, direction, and support that they so deserve through the Red Means Stop program using DrivingMBA. Our family doesn't qualify for many of the programs available to military families because my husband died prior to 9/11. This Red Means Stop Teen Driver Education Program has been a Godsend to us, and a little bit of weight off of my shoulders. I am SO happy that they will get the quality education that DrivingMBA offers. It's so scary to think about letting them driver. It makes me feel a little better knowing that they are getting such a great foundation to start driving with!! Thank you Red Means Stop and especially Maria from DrivingMBA for remembering us and extending this great gift!"
