You Matter Too

You Matter Too reaches out to youth being bullied , those doing the bullying and at-risk youth. Our mission is to build self esteem, confidence, teach youth how to love themselves to deter them from the thoughts of suicide and /or self harm.

Our program develops one on one relationships with youth that are being bullied and youth who do the bullying. We also collaborate with another nonprofit mentoring girls who are incarcerated in the Durango Juvenile Detention Center. Our program allows these youth to freely talk about the pain inflicted upon them by the bullies and their environment through our healing table talks. We provide resources and coping mechanisms to help them gain confidence and self-esteem. Our program also highlight the special gifts that are stifled because of the effects of bullying and and abuse , and also bring in other victims of bullying to share their stories and how they coped with the negative effects of being bullied. To make them feel special, we take them on mini shopping excursions, give them a makeover and fun photoshoot, support school and outside events, celebrate their birthdays, and build forever relationships. For those that have been incarcerated, we help them get their GED, prepare them jobs and become accountability partners to help deter reentry into the Juvenile Detention Center.
