The Foster Alliance (TFA), formerly Arizona Helping Hands, supports the foster care community by providing essentials to benefit children in foster care.

Founded in 1998, The Foster Alliance is Arizona's largest provider of essential services for children experiencing foster care. Each year, we help thousands of children by providing beds, clothing, diapers, personal care items, backpacks filled with school supplies, and custom birthday gifts.

But one of the most common needs we see is something most of us rarely think about.

Shoes.

Something as simple as new shoes can make a huge difference.

When children are removed from their homes, they often arrive at a foster or kinship placement with very few belongings, sometimes only the clothes they are wearing. Many come with shoes that are worn out, too small, or not appropriate for school.

At the same time, relatives and foster parents are stepping in with little warning, sometimes welcoming several children overnight and suddenly taking on the responsibility of providing everything those children need.

Shoes give kids the confidence to take their first steps, run and play, walk into a classroom, and step into the world knowing they belong.

For Arizona Gives Day, The Foster Alliance is raising $100,000 to provide new shoes for children experiencing foster care across Arizona.

Last year we gave out 3,277 shoes, while serving 8,440 children.

There are more than 11,000 children in Arizona’s state and tribal foster care systems.

Together, we can make sure more of them have the essentials they deserve.

·         $25 helps provide socks and supports a child receiving new shoes

·         $50 provides a brand-new pair of everyday shoes for a child

·         $100 provides shoes for two children entering care

·         $300 provides shoes for siblings entering care together

·         $618 (AZ Tax Credit) helps provide shoes for more than 12 children

·         $1,234 (AZ Tax Credit) helps provide shoes for more than 25 children
