"Find a need and fill it, Find a hurt and heal it."

We are dedicated to rescuing, restoring, and empowering survivors of human trafficking and individuals facing crisis. Through Dream Centers, we provide safe housing, trauma-informed care, and holistic healing programs, helping people rebuild their lives with dignity and purpose.

About Us

The Short Creek Dream Center (SCDC) is a trauma-informed, wrap-around service, 40-bed licensed social service residential program, and a vital part of The Dream Institute, Inc. (TDI)

We are one of the largest program of our kind that houses entire families, allowing individuals in crisis to stay together with their children while receiving the support they need. This is rare in residential programs, making SCDC a truly unique and essential resource for survivors and families in need.

Located in Colorado City, Arizona, SCDC provides comprehensive care and long-term support to survivors of trafficking, domestic violence, and housing insecurity. Through safe shelter, crisis intervention, counseling, and life skills training, we help individuals move from survival to stability.

Beyond housing, SCDC also serves the broader community, where 48% of households live below the Federal Poverty Level (U.S. Census Bureau). We work to break cycles of trauma and poverty by offering:

  • Emergency & Transitional Housing for women, children, and men
  • Trauma-Informed Counseling & Case Management
  • Education & Workforce Development (GED, life skills, vocational training)
  • A Community Food Bank providing 1.2M+ pounds of food annually
