R.O.S.E. Resources/Outreach to Safeguard the Elderly

To prevent the financial exploitation and defrauding of the older adults through advocacy and education. We educate and bring awareness of the frauds and scams that have a tendency to affect the 60+ year old population. In addition, we provide resources and tips/tools to assist the older adults in protecting themselves and their hard-earned assets.

R.O.S.E. seeks to create change by providing education and providing awareness of financial scams that typically target the elderly/senior population, with a focus on those age 60 and over. We have seen a drastic increase in the number of victims over the age of 60 and monetary loss due to the financial scams and our goal is to reduce the number of victims. According to the FBI's IC3 report for 2022, the 60+ year old population that reported being a victim of a fraud/scam lost over $85 million! This has increased from $54 million in 2021. This is devastating to the older adult population; financially, emotionally, physically, psychologically. We believe through recurring education, we can help this population learn about the frauds/scams and give them the tips/tools to help them prevent falling victim. It is not a matter of "if" they will be contacted, it is a matter of "when" and "how often".

R.O.S.E. was founded to lead the effort in delivering effective, concise, and educational programs to the elderly (and their families) in Maricopa County, so that they will be aware of the types of scams that are prevalent and dangerous to this population and what they can do to prevent becoming a victim. The elderly are often targets of financial scams because of their philanthropic and trusting nature. We believe through recurring educational programs, R.O.S.E. can help the elderly/seniors develop a habit of preventing the financial frauds.
