Orpheus Male Chorus of Phoenix: Nearly a Century of Music, Community, and Connection

Founded in 1929, the Orpheus Male Chorus of Phoenix is Arizona’s longest-standing male chorus, uniting men from across the Valley, aged 21 to 82, who share a passion for creating beautiful music. For nearly a century, Orpheus has inspired audiences, enriched lives, and strengthened communities through the power of choral music.

Our repertoire spans classical, sacred, contemporary, and culturally significant works, performed in approximately six major concerts each year. We collaborate with youth ensembles, including the Phoenix Children’s Chorus, through Legacy, an intergenerational concert celebrating music’s ability to connect generations.

Making a Difference in Our Community
Orpheus is dedicated to using music to uplift and engage communities:

• Performing for veterans at the Arizona State Veteran’s Home, at the Phoenix Veteran’s Day Parade, and through free tickets via VetTix.
• Bringing music to those experiencing homelessness at St. Vincent de Paul shelters.
• Sharing therapeutic music with patients living with dementia and Parkinson’s through our partnership with HonorHealth.
• Supporting youth through scholarships, mentorship, and our annual Tenor-Bass Festival for middle and high school choir students.

A Chorus with Reach and Recognition
Beyond our local impact, Orpheus has performed internationally, toured across Europe and Asia, and sung in prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall. We have shared our music with dignitaries including President John F. Kennedy.
