High Country Humane

Every single day, animals arrive at High Country Humane in need of more than just a home, they need immediate, lifesaving medical care. From puppies fighting Parvo to kittens rescued from extreme neglect, our medical team is dedicated to saving as many lives as possible. 

As the official shelter for the City of Flagstaff & Coconino County (the second largest county in the U.S.), we face a relentless volume of cases. We do not euthanize for length of stay, space, or treatable conditions. But this requires specialized equipment, expensive medications, and sometimes weeks of intensive care.

• Funds recovery for our 38 cruelty survivors, showing them they are finally safe
• Saves the lives of tiny puppies bravely battling parvovirus
• Nurtures newborn kittens fighting to survive without their mothers
• Treats the heartbreaking group of 15 dogs struggling with distemper
• Heals pets injured after being hit by cars on our busy Arizona highways
• Restores the emaciated animals who forgot what a full belly feels like
• Even removes the hundreds of porcupine quills from a dog that got a little too close
