The Heard Museum connects Indigenous creativity to the world by presenting the voice and vision of American Indian artists.

According to an economic impact survey conducted by Arizona State University, in 2025 the Heard Museum’s total economic annual impact on the State of Arizona was nearly 80 million dollars. American Indian Artists surveyed reported that nearly 20% of their earned revenue is generated from being part of a Heard Museum event, exhibition, or shop, demonstrating the institution’s vital role in supporting the economic vitality of Indigenous artists.

Your gift will directly support American Indian artists.

To advance our mission, we created the Heard Museum Artist Fund, which directs 100% of donations to Indigenous artists. Each year, the Heard Museum invests over $2 million directly into artists through its shop, performances, educational programs and signature events.

Invest Directly in American Indian Artists. Here are a few examples of what your gift to the Artist Fund supports:

  • Directly strengthening the livelihoods of the artists whose vision brings the Heard Museum to life.
  • Showing artwork in one of our original exhibitions
  • Providing equitable pay for the teaching artists who share their knowledge with new generations of artists in our classroom and workshop programs and sustaining the Heard’s fair wage policy for exhibiting artists — one of the first such policies in the nation by an accredited museum.
  • Presenting live musical artists and performances at events like First Friday, The Heard Guild Indian Fair and Market, and Holidays at the Heard.
