Comfort Bears in a Catastrophe

A nonprofit organization

Comfort Bears in a Catastrophe gifts stuffed animals and encouraging cards to children impacted by disasters. While many organizations focus on donating stuffed animals to children in the hospital or foster care, our organization serves a niche population of children that are often forgotten about when they need comfort the most. We also provide free disaster preparedness resources for kids in the community.

To date, we have donated over 10,000 Comfort Bears nationwide and educated over 23,000 kids on disaster preparedness. Founded by an ASU grad and Hurricane Katrina survivor, our nonprofit is headquartered here in Arizona and we have many local partnerships across the state to help children.

Testimonials

"It is these little moments of smiles I have seen that bring a glimmer of hope among tough times. We might not be able to fix everything over night, but we can infuse it with love one Comfort Bear at a time." -- - Savannah Gankiewicz, Miss Hawaii USA.

"I actually saw this work first hand. I went on a ride along with my son who is a firefighter, and there was a bad fire with 3 children in the apartment complex, and they were given those bears and immediately it stopped the trauma and the crying, so it's such a wonderful thing. I got to see it in real time." -- Councilwoman Cantelme; Prescott, AZ
