Tetra's mission:
The Tetra String Quartet is an Arizona nonprofit organization that serves the community and empowers the next generation through performing and teaching chamber music.
Tetra Chamber Music Institute (TCMI)
Through Tetra's Year-Round program and two summer workshops, TCMI trains young musicians to perform in small ensembles with excellence and channel their creative strengths to effect positive change in themselves and the community. Our programs focus on each student as an individual with the goal of nurturing each participant intellectually, emotionally, and musically.
Azure Family Concerts
Free, one hour Azure events are fun, friendly, and engaging performances where families of children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) or other sensory processing disorders can enjoy live concerts.
Songwriting Workshops and Concerts at Durango Juvenile Detention Center
Tetra serves youth at the Durango Juvenile Detention Center by presenting educational concerts, collaborating with their Guitar Club, and giving workshops that introduce youth to creative writing, song structure, rhythm, and melody. Local rap artist Colby Jeffers guides participants to write lyrics for their verses and chorus, and Tetra provides the music to the songs they create while facilitating conversations between youth and staff members. This spring, the workshops will expand to include recording days, allowing youth to professionally record their songs.
Tempe Schools Residency
Tetra partners with the Tempe Union High School District to bring their chamber music curriculum to thousands of Title One middle and high school students.
Educational concerts through Act One and the Musical Instrument Museum
Every year, Tetra presents free educational concerts for thousands of students from the Phoenix-metro area through partnerships with Act One, The Orpheum Theater, and the Musical Instrument Museum.
Friendship Village Artists in Residence
Since 2012, Tetra performs 16 concerts a year at Friendship Village in Tempe. They visit residents in memory care, the health care center, assisted living, and the general population.
