Taking Up Space

Taking Up Space is a nonprofit organization founded to empower children through aerospace science and STEM education. It was created to address the under representation of Native American youth - especially girls - in STEM fields. The program uses a culturally grounded approach that blends traditional Indigenous knowledge with space science, leadership training, and mentoring.

Core goals:

• Boost confidence and self-worth.

• Provide hands-on STEM experiences, like space camps and workshops.

• Encourage leadership, civic engagement, and advocacy.

• Preserve and incorporate Indigenous science and storytelling.

• Build a pipeline for education and career pathways in STEM.
