Power Paws programs and services.
• Diabetic Alert dogs (TID) can detect highs or lows in blood glucose levels (BGL) .
• Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder dogs act as a well-trained guardian for clients that have experienced a life changing trauma or an abusive experience.
• Mobility dogs help with day-to-day activities and act as support for clients with physical challenges (legs, hands, arms) associated with Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson's, etc.
• Facility Dogs partner with forensic interviewers, law enforcement and courtroom personnel to help comfort survivors while offenders are prosecuted.
• Veterans Internship Program. Veterans train service dogs for disabled veterans. Power Paws will teach 24 veterans how to train service dogs that will (1) provide a marketable skill for our veterans and (2) provide a service dog or companion animal for a veteran and (3) help a veteran heal from the trauma of military service. Power Paws covers the 100% of the cost (training/supplies) for each team (veteran/dog) through a 12-18-month training. For veterans that are placed with a service dog, Power Paws will provide ongoing training for the team for the life of the canine at no cost.
There is no cure for the children and adults Power Paws serves.
100% of your donations will go toward training assistance dogs for disabled children or adults.
Each client we serve is faced with the financial burden associated with managing their healthcare for the rest of their life.
Trained service dogs annually support 2440+ child survivors of domestic or sexual abuse through victims advocate programs.
Your donation is a priceless gift to a family in need of a service dog -- serving a family for at least 8-9 years.
The gift of your time as a volunteer will improve the quality of life for a disabled child or adult.
Power Paws' mission through the large financial hurdle is to train, provide supplies, training gear, food, and veterinary care for each canine over 16-24 months. Power Paws is grateful to have a combined force of dedicated donors and volunteers. Collectively our work supports training assistance dogs for Arizona's most vulnerable population -- the disabled and survivors of sexual or domestic abuse. Thank you.
