SPECIAL NEEDS RESCUE - The remaining percentage of animals even in no kill shelters that have the hardest time sustaining. Saving dogs and cats with special needs including; behaviour; fear; feral (dogs also); sick; abused; injured; abandoned; orphaned; blind; deaf; senior; bonded pairs
CAROLINA DOGS #NOCAROLINADOGLEFTBEHIND * Native and Desert Dogs - These dogs are often free ranging and caught in traps and brought into the shelter. These dogs are typically feral and require extensive socialization and desensitization to overcome their fears. They are at high risk of being destroyed quickly at shelters due to their fear behavior and shutting down. LOVAR also stepped up to assist in a breeder / county case to intake dozens of dogs in danger.
CAT LOVAR: Dedicated to rescuing, rehabilitating and rehoming saveable but at risk cats including seniors, bonded pairs, FIV/FELV, blind, injured, sick, families, orphans and mothers left behind. Our program also intakes cats from hoarding and neglect case as well as works on.
PROJECT SAFE HOUSE Serving as a discreet resource for animals that are also victims in domestic violence cases enabling victims to focus on escaping their abuser and providing peace of mind while they focus on themselves.
LOVAR SANCTUARY When we agree to intake an animal we are there "plan B" for life. LOVAR had 12 cats in sanctuary and 15 dogs. Some have illnesses requiring lifelong medication and some are behaviorally challenged and fearful of humans, but otherwise wonderful and deserving to live out their natural life safe and happy in a crate free environment..

I have great respect for LOVAR. Not only do they genuinely care about the animals in the shelters and in the care of LOVAR, but they rescue, foster, and help many dogs and cats who would be considered far too difficult for most rescues to consider. Their follow through for these animals is excellent, too. They provide the needed medical care, training, and often longer term foster to get these animals socialized, then take care in making the right placement. Furthermore, they keep looking for opportunities to make larger system changes that will benefit animals at risk. Hats off to LOVAR!

Very caring group of wonderful people! They rescue and save many animals other groups would deem disposable.

We had a wonderful experience adopting our puppy from LOVAR. I had seen the puppy online and sent in an application, within 24 hours, they had done the checks and set up a home visit and meet and greet. We had an immediate connection with our pup. We could not adopt him right away due to him not being neutered so we happily signed up to "foster to adopt" where we got to keep him and care for him as foster parents until he was old enough to get neutered. We officially adopted him today! When we took him by to sign the paper, everyone was so excited and happy to see our puppy. I could not recommend this rescue enough! Thank you for giving us our fur baby!
