$5,000 Goal

The purpose of Jacob’s Mission Community Center is to stand as a beacon of hope for low-income, at-risk youth and provide a nurturing environment where their talents are discovered and cultivated through extracurricular activities, personal development, tutoring, and mentoring support.

Youth attending Jacob’s Mission Community Center have experienced significant adversity. Over half are in foster care, many with histories of trauma and abuse, while the others come from low-income backgrounds. These youth face challenges that jeopardize their future success, including educational disparities—only 53.5% of low-income students meet state math standards, and just 33% of foster youth graduate high school, well below the 78% rate for their peers. Youth in the program are at high risk for homelessness, unemployment, involvement in the criminal justice system, and trafficking, highlighting the urgent need for trauma-informed programs, mentorship, and skills-based education.

Our Transition to Adulthood program provides youth ages 13-19 with workshops that focus on promoting mental and physical well-being, building financial literacy and economic independence, and enhancing educational attainment and career readiness. This program empowers youth to overcome adversity and transition into adulthood with confidence, self-sufficiency, and long-term success. This program served 135 youth in 2024, with 98% of youth having a household income less than 150% of the federal poverty level.

Our after school program offers a range of educational and health promoting activities. During the program, participants receive one-on-one academic tutoring and mentoring support. Each day a variety of extracurricular activities are offered, each of which incorporate principles of social emotional resilience and trauma-regulation. Extracurricular electives include gardening and cooking club, therapeutic art, music class, yoga, and sports. This program served 129 youth in 2024.
