About the IRC in Arizona

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) responds to the world’s worst humanitarian crises, helping people uprooted by conflict and disaster rebuild their lives. Across more than 50 countries and communities throughout the United States, the IRC provides lifesaving assistance, protection, and long‑term support so families can recover and thrive.

Here in Arizona, the IRC in Phoenix and Tucson welcome refugees, asylees, asylum seekers, survivors of torture and trafficking and other immigrants as they rebuild their lives with safety, dignity and opportunity. Our work begins with a warm welcome, from meeting families at the airport to securing safe housing, but it continues far beyond those first moments. Through trauma‑informed and culturally responsive programs, we help individuals and families move from crisis to stability and toward lasting belonging.

In partnership with local schools, healthcare providers, employers, government agencies, community organizations, and volunteers, the IRC in Arizona helps newcomers access medical care, enroll children in school, find employment, strengthen language skills, navigate legal systems and heal from trauma. Our services span resettlement, case management, economic empowerment, education, health, agriculture, legal assistance and safety and wellness, ensuring coordinated support at every stage of rebuilding.

This work strengthens Arizona. Refugees and immigrants become vital members of our community as workers, entrepreneurs, caregivers, homeowners and students. Through the IRC’s economic and community development efforts alone, families have purchased hundreds of homes, launched businesses, opened licensed childcare program and invested millions back into the local economy. When newcomers thrive, our entire state grows stronger.

At the IRC in Arizona, we believe that people who have endured displacement deserve not only safety, but the opportunity to flourish. This AZ Gives Day, your support helps families rebuild, contribute their talents, and shape a more welcoming, resilient, and vibrant Arizona for all.
