Haven of Hope Foundation

At Haven of Hope Foundation, our mission is rooted in a deep commitment to supporting children battling chronic illnesses and their families. Founded by a Family and a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner who witnessed the daily struggles of these families, our foundation was born out of a desire to help alleviate the hardships they face.

Our founder’s journey is deeply personal. While working as a nurse, she witnessed the heartbreaking experience of a mother comforting her newborn in the intensive care unit. The baby had just undergone surgery, but the mother was faced with a painful decision—she didn’t have the funds to pay for gas to visit her son and sit by his side the day after his surgery, a moment every mother should be able to have. To make ends meet, she had to work 16-hour shifts to cover the costs of taking time off work during her son’s surgery. This experience highlighted the immense emotional, physical, and financial burdens families like hers face daily, and it became the driving force to create Haven of Hope Foundation.

Today, we know that nearly 27% of children in the United States are living with a chronic condition, and 1 in 15 children are affected by multiple chronic conditions. These conditions place a tremendous strain on families, not only emotionally and physically but financially as well. In fact, studies show that 40% of families with children who have special health care needs experience significant financial hardship because of their child's illness.

That’s why we are urgently seeking $30,000 to provide critical financial assistance to families who are struggling to cover medical co-pays, medication costs, and basic living expenses like housing and utilities. These funds will help ensure families don’t have to choose between taking care of their child and meeting their everyday needs.
