Desert Rivers Audubon Society

Desert Rivers Audubon is a volunteer organization with no paid staff.  All donations are used to advance our mission.

Our mission since 2006:  "Educating and inspiring our community to protect and preserve birds, wildlife, and their habitats."

Conservation:  We are tackling some of the man-made conditions that threaten the survival of birds, such as commercial and residential windows which cause fatal bird collisions, and excess outdoor lighting which destroys natural darkness and disorients migrating birds.

Education: Our programs are designed to build knowledge of wildlife and the environment. Speaker meetings, Family Bird Walks, Field Trips, and participation in community activities and other events are intended to transform communities.

Sustainability: We encourage our community to make changes for the planet in their daily lives, by educating about the threats to our planet, by modeling sustainable practices at our events and by advocating for policies that will foster a greener future. 

Community: Desert Rivers is inclusive, welcoming members of diverse communities to join us in the work of protecting birds and their habitats.  We connect adults and children with the environment through bird walks, nature hikes, and local activities so that they will be inspired to speak out for wildlife.
