Chemo Companions

Chemo Companions is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization founded in 2010 with a mission to provide support to individuals undergoing chemotherapy and help them feel compassion and connection throughout their cancer journey. Our organization was born from the personal experience of founder Alyssa Gofonia-Dinowitz, whose mother, Marriann, battled breast cancer multiple times. During treatment, Alyssa and her sisters transformed the chemo lounge into a space of laughter, love, and connection. Seeing the difference this made, Alyssa was inspired to create an organization that brings that same light and comfort to others.  

Our programs are designed to ease the emotional and physical burdens of treatment by offering both personal connection and practical care. We visit patients in chemo lounges and provide them with a thoughtfully curated Chemo Comfort Bag. Our team also works closely with social workers to provide patients in need with gift cards for basic necessities and to bring in practitioners to lead free wellness events at the cancer center. Every effort is rooted in love, compassion, and the belief that no one should face cancer alone.
