Lighting the Way for Arizona families and caregivers since 1976.
Candelen is a nonprofit organization rooted in early childhood expertise and care. Since 1976, we’ve partnered with the adults who shape a child’s world – parents, educators, and caregivers—to help every child thrive. These adults inspire curiosity, build confidence, and help little ones discover the world around them. Our mission-Candelen unites with parents, caregivers, and educators, providing support, connection, and learning opportunities as they shape children’s lives.
Through our educational programs, supportive services, and practical tools, we walk alongside adults as they raise, teach, and care for children – helping them feel confident and equipped as they navigate the critical stages of early childhood. When adults feel supported, the children in their care have the brightest possible beginning.
Together, we help children shine.
Caregivers are the first teachers, protectors, and advocates in a child’s life. When we support caregivers, we strengthen the foundation for healthy development, lifelong learning, and family well-being. At Candelen, we believe that empowered caregivers create empowered children. By investing in their knowledge, confidence, and access to resources, we help build stronger families and brighter futures – for everyone.
At Candelen We:
* Provide training and education to individuals in the child care field.
* Support quality child care through coaching programs.
* Offer support and training to those who care for the children of family and friends.
* Assist family child care providers with state licensing and certification.
*Deliver doula-parent educator supports for families with compassionate guidance, education, and care from pregnancy through their infant’s first birthday.
"Learning about children's brain development (through Candelen's Kith & Kin Program) has made me realize what a big role as parents we play in kids' lives."-Candelen Kith & Kin Program Parent
"I learned that everything I do to interact with our children is very crucial, from reading and building vocabulary to playing and creating art, even down to diaper changing, I already have what it takes!"-Candelen Kith & Kin Language and Literacy Program participant
"Before enrolling in the Candelen Prenatal & Postpartum Program I felt fearful about my upcoming birth and frustrated about my options involving a hospital birth. Now I feel extremely grateful that I was able to have a doula at my birth to comfort me, inform me, and help me feel calm during labor and delivery."-Candelen Prenatal & Postpartum Program Parent
