At Cancer Support Community Arizona (CSCAZ), we believe no one should face cancer alone. Our mission is to uplift and strengthen people impacted by cancer by providing support, fostering compassionate communities, and breaking down barriers to care. Our services are available for cancer patients, cancer survivors, caregivers, family members, and children of parents facing cancer because our vision is that everyone impacted by cancer receives the support they want and need.

All our programs are evidence-based, led by licensed and certified professionals, available in English and Spanish, and completely free of charge. Services are provided in person in the greater Phoenix area, the Verde Valley, and Flagstaff, and virtually via livestream to residents in every corner of Arizona.

Our services are crucial because research has shown effective cancer care requires the integration of psychological and social services (like what CSCAZ provides) with medical treatment to address issues associated with a cancer diagnosis and prognosis. A failure to provide supportive care to cancer patients and their loved ones can result in additional suffering, reduced adherence to physician-prescribed care, and a delayed return to best health status. Pairing supportive services with medical treatment, however, can improve recovery, increase resilience, and enhance long-term survivorship. Therefore, CSCAZ provides these no-cost programs and support to vulnerable individuals, families, and caregivers throughout their cancer journey. Unfortunately, these life-saving services are not reimbursable by insurance, which is why we rely on generous donations from our community to fund our programs. Without our free services, patients are on their own to find, and pay for, the social and emotional support they need to have the best possible cancer outcomes.

CSCAZ offers ~100 bilingual (English/Spanish) programs each month, including support groups, cancer resource navigation, healthy lifestyle classes, nutrition education, 1:1 counseling with licensed mental health professionals, expressive arts, youth & family programming, and fun events designed to build life-giving community. Additionally, we provide individualized services to address social determinants of health and overcome barriers to care. Through our Resource Navigation program, we help patients and families access resources such as financial, transportation, food, and lodging assistance and offer free wigs to individuals who are losing their hair due to treatment. It can be overwhelming for Arizonans to navigate the cancer landscape, so CSCAZ helps ease the worry and burden of the cancer experience.

In 2024, we served more than 1,800 individuals directly through our programs, and helped over 1,000 families access resources to overcome barriers to care. Considering our services help the whole family, last year we impacted over 7,500 Arizonans by making sure no one faces cancer alone.
