Brighten Haiti

In Haiti less than 40% of the population has access to electricity and this drops to less than 15% in rural areas.  Our team is working to change that!

Brighten Haiti provides solar power to schools, hospitals, civic buildings, and families that lack electricity.  Through industry partnerships, we receive donations of used or discounted solar equipment and work with local installation teams, often trained through our apprenticeship program, to maximize the amount of electricity deployed.

Our installation costs approach $1.80 per watt, which is an 80% cost reduction compared to U.S. systems.

At Brighten Haiti, we believe in the power of solar energy to transform lives. Haiti is in the midst of a humanitarian crisis, with 61% of the population lacking access to electricity. Without reliable power, schools struggle to educate, hospitals cannot function properly, and businesses face immense challenges. We are on a mission to change that.

Our Mission: Brighten Haiti is committed to providing sustainable solar energy solutions to communities across Haiti. By installing solar panels in schools, medical clinics, hospitals, and businesses, we empower local communities with reliable electricity, fostering education, healthcare, and economic growth.

Our Impact:  With the help of generous donors and partners, we have been able to ship and install thousands of solar panels in Haiti. Through initiatives like our Solar4Schools and Solar4All programs, we are lighting up classrooms, powering hospitals, and enabling entrepreneurs to start small businesses with affordable solar solutions. Our Solar Apprenticeship Program trains young men and women in Haiti to become solar energy technicians, providing them with valuable skills and sustainable employment opportunities.
