About AZK9

AZK9 is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization serving Arizona’s underserved communities through a tri-fold approach: education, sterilization, and rescue. Founded by a dedicated group of volunteers in Maricopa County, our mission is rooted in one belief, every animal deserves a second chance at love, care, and a safe home.

For more than 16 years, AZK9 has worked to address pet overpopulation at its source. Through our community spay and neuter program, we have helped provide surgeries for over 19,000 pets, focusing on Phoenix neighborhoods with the highest rates of stray animal intake. In 2025 alone, we sterilized 509 community pets, including more than 63 Pit Bull-type dogs and bully breeds.

Each month, AZK9 hosts a free spay and neuter clinic in partnership with Dr. Kelly’s Vet, with surgeries funded by Fix, Adopt, Save and The Fix with Incredibull Stella. To further support responsible pet ownership, we offer free vaccinations, including rabies and distemper/parvo, as an incentive for families to have their pets fixed. We also provide pet food and essential supplies to ensure families can continue caring for their animals.

Education remains a cornerstone of our work. We are committed to teaching youth and families about responsible pet ownership, with a focus on advocacy and care for Pit Bull-type dogs.

In addition to prevention efforts, AZK9 rescues animals most in need, senior pets, medical cases, and those often overlooked or deemed “hard to place.” Over the years, we have helped more than 3,000 animals, including dogs, cats, and even farm animals, find loving forever homes. Every animal in our care receives individualized medical treatment, training, and socialization through our network of fosters, volunteers, and veterinary partners to ensure a successful adoption and lifelong match.

Where Your Support Goes

When you support AZK9, your donation is reinvested directly back into our community, funding spay and neuter efforts while also providing lifesaving care for the dogs in our rescue.

Your generosity also powers programs like Stay Golden, which focuses on rescuing senior and hospice dogs. Through this program, AZK9 covers the medical care these pets need for the remainder of their lives, removing barriers to adoption and allowing them to spend their final chapter in the comfort of a loving home.
