The mission of Sun Cities 4 Paws is to promote the physical and psychological well being of animals by providing a safe haven for cats, while finding them adoptive homes or life long shelter. Currently we achieve this mission by providing shelter, medical care, evaluation, and treatment to cats who have become homeless, finding homes for the cats and kittens in our care and providing people who care for cats with resources, education, and support to help keep human-animal bonds strong.

Since it's beginning over 27 years ago, Sun Cities 4 Paws has continued to grow. Our Thrift Store has grown to 3 suites and we recently finished an addition and remodel of the Peoria Shelter, which allowed us to close two of our suites at the Youngtown location. Now all intake and medical care is being done at the Peoria Shelter. We kept one suite, next to the Thrift Store to be utilized as an Adoption Center. We also have a PetSmart location we have adopted out of for 20 years in Surprise.

Sun Cities 4 Paws Rescue has saved the lives of many thousands of cats and kittens since we started and we continue to average both intake and adoption rates of about 800 per year. We have a dedicated group of staff and volunteers to help care for the cats and kittens awaiting adoption, along with many foster homes for kittens too young to be safely in the shelter and also for senior and/or permanent medical needs cats.

We work daily to intake and adopt cats and kittens . We require every cat or kitten to be sterilized prior to adoption, with no exceptions. By insuring that every cat is sterilized, we are working to reduce the overpopulation of homeless cats in Maricopa County AZ. Sun Cities 4 Paws has multiple types of foster programs; our kitten foster program, which is the main reason we can intake 500 kittens yearly, the senior foster/special needs foster program, which places older and medical needs cats into permanent foster homes and our surrender to foster program, which helps people needing to surrender cats or kittens get them into our shelter more quickly and ready for adoption when they come in.
