YWe are a Christian faith-in-action outreach that empowers, sustains, inspires and shares the love of God. We serve our neighbors in the Verde Valley who are in need by providing food & clothing, community events, and various resources. Our desire is to build relationships and create a stronger community.

It was the year 1989 and a few friends began feeding the hungry out of the back of their pickup truck. From those humble beginnings the Old Town Mission was birthed, now serving the entire Verde Valley. Through the years we have expanded our services to include weekly and monthly food boxes, produce market, hot meals, clothing boutique, showers, haircuts, backpacks, community events, special holiday brunches, vision, legal, dental, and most recently second chance employment. Our programs, services, and community events are open to anyone who is in need. Our clients include: the elderly, Veterans, single parent households, working class poor and the homeless. We do not discriminate against race, gender, age, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or disabilities.

Our programs are meeting the basic needs for those struggling in our community. For the majority of our clients they are faced with monthly expenditures of rent, utilities, medical expenses, gas, etc., and very little, if any is left over for food or clothing. This is their reality.

Testimonials

There are many stories throughout this past year but we would like to highlight Bob, who is a retired Chaplain and is also a Veteran. He was hired to deliver food boxes at the start of the pandemic through our new Home Delivery Program.
Bob is a senior citizen with lots of spunk and a true servants heart!
With the huge influx of those seeking food boxes delivered straight to their doorstep, he relentlessly packed the boxes with food, loaded up his car and made those very important deliveries. His days were often long and tiresome but he got to know the folks that were pretty isolated and lonely.
Over the months, he built relationships with some of the people on his routes. Bob would go out of his way to do an errand that was needed, such as pick up a prescription or perhaps some dog or cat food. He took the time to talk with them, listen to their stories and pray with them if asked. Many times he was the only outside person that they had any contact with at all. One day after deliveries Bob returned to the mission sharing fresh baked, literally out-of-the-oven bread, that an elderly lady who was battling cancer had made for him. With tears in his eyes, he shared the bread, and her story with us. We feel so blessed to be helping our neighbors in need with not only food, but also compassion and hope. It really is ALL about neighbors helping neighbors... in more ways than one!
