More About Us
Mindfulness First are teaching Mindfulness-Based Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) to children in Arizona schools and it is their vision that all children in Arizona will be taught these tools as part of their education. Studied by most major Universities in the USA, Mindfulness and SEL are proven to help prevent the most pervasive problems in schools today like bullying, isolation and addiction, and all while increasing attention, empathy and grades. They feel passionately that we are addressing the missing piece in education.
Since 2013, Mindfulness First have led the charge for mindfulness in Arizona 'Pre-K to 12th Grade' schools. They have brought Mindfulness to classrooms in many school districts, including supporting the creation of "Arizona's First Mindful School" at David Crockett Elementary School in the BALSZ school district. The results have been incredible. Since prioritizing Mindfulness in 2015, Crockett has become a B *highly achieving* school, just 3 points from an A (Oct 2017) and has reduced suspensions from 47 in 2015 to just 1 suspension in this academic year. Crockett is homeschool to UMOM and has a large refugee community; it is in America's 5th most economically segregated district, where all other schools are D graded.
Mindfulness First are training teachers across Arizona with their new online professional and personal development services. Your generous gift will help teachers to become trained in Mindfulness Based Social Emotional Learning; helping teachers with self-care and balance, while ensuring these vital life-skills will be disseminated to countless students. Mindful teachers, create mindful classrooms. Together with Mindfulness First, you can help transform education in Arizona by prioritizing positive mental health and well-being for teachers and students!
