More About Us
Mindfulness First are teaching Mindfulness-Based Social-Emotional Learning (SEL) to children in Arizona schools and it is our vision that all children in Arizona will be taught these tools as part of their education. Studied by most major Universities in the USA, Mindfulness and SEL are proven to help prevent the most pervasive problems in schools today like bullying, isolation and addiction, and all while increasing attention, empathy and grades. We feel passionately that we are addressing the missing piece in education.
Mindfulness First provides in-person and internet-based curriculum for students and staff of all ages. In the Balsz District, E. Phoenix, Mindfulness First has partnered with David Crockett Elementary School to create a 'Mindful School'. After 18 months of collaboration, suspensions at this school have been reduced by 50% and are at the lowest for the district. We will have more research results published this summer. Children and staff overwhelmingly report using Mindfulness successfully to manage stress and difficulties both on campus and at home. Soon, Mindfulness First will fully hand over the reigns for the sustainable Crockett School program, to the teachers themselves.
Our strategic priorities moving forward are to expand our in-person services throughout the Balsz District, while offering internet-based curriculum and teacher training to other school districts in central Arizona. Ultimately we plan to use our research to facilitate change in AZ legislation so that all children can learn Mindfulness-Based Social Emotional Learning at school.
