The Loft Cinema is an authentic Tucson treasure that provides audiences with the opportunity to experience great films on the big screen! Since it was founded in a small one-screen space adjacent to the University of Arizona campus, The Loft Cinema has screened foreign and independent films, hosted events and profoundly increased the quality of life in Tucson.

The mission of The Loft Cinema is building community by celebrating the art and diversity of film. The Loft Cinema is a mission-driven, member-supported nonprofit arts organization, serving Greater Tucson and Southern Arizona, and beyond.

In July 2024, The Loft embarked on an ambitious endeavor to expand and upgrade the entire campus. This project now close to completion, we look forward to offering our community this new and improved Loft Cinema featuring:

New Lobby Space: The new heart of The Loft, where moviegoers gather with seamless access to the whole campus, including screens, concessions and restrooms.

Incredible New Viewing and Gathering Experience: A new indoor fourth screen will offer flexible seating with a mix of luxury loungers, sofa, and beanbags. A permanent open-air theater will welcome audiences, along with a rooftop bar and a renovated Screen 2 which will offer more luxury seating.

New Restrooms, Doors, Theaters: An elevator to the second floor will provide access to the rooftop bar and Screen 2, and all doors will have automatic openers.

Re-imagined Concessions: A new menu emphasizing locally-sourced food, beverages, and wine. There will be minimal wait times and plenty of space to get your fare and get to your movie.

“We absolutely love The Loft! They offer the best independent and international films. We have seen so many great movies here! We enjoy the summer kids movie program (Loft Kids Fest). We adore the Cat Video Fest! Many of the films will have film directors or interested parties talk to the crowd either before or after the movie. There's just always something interesting happening here! Their membership program is great and includes free movies and popcorn and the recent remodel looks fantastic! I love the open air theater!
