Keep Phoenix Beautiful

The mission of Keep Phoenix Beautiful is to provide tools to empower our diverse communities to improve overall quality of life. To achieve that mission, we mobilize volunteers, educate the community, encourage the Three R's anywhere we can and work to beautify vacant lots. For example, we currently have two community gardens that beautify the surrounding neighborhood and invite inclusion by containing about a hundred gardeners, several local school groups, and other community stakeholders.

In a typical year, we engage thousands of volunteers, providing a value of over $300,000 to the community. The far-reaching education program touched over 11,000 students in grades K-8 and also educates adults and businesses, too! Our iconic "I Recycle Phoenix" event diverts 150,000 pounds of electronic waste and paper shredding from the landfill every year. Our two community gardens represent the inclusion of about a hundred gardeners, several local school groups, and other community stakeholders. Of course, we couldn't have done any of this without our diverse partnerships like Republic Services, Verizon, American Urban Forestry, and so many more!
