Flagstaff Family Food Center

Christmas Day 1991. The doors of a small converted restaurant on N. Second Street open at 1 pm, and 50 people in need sit down for a holiday meal. The menu is simple but substantial - baked ham, three bean salad, candied yams, peas, carrots, homemade biscuits, pumpkin pie.

That meal was the launch of the Flagstaff Family Food Center, and this year we are celebrating 35 years of neighbors feeding neighbors in northern Arizona.

FFFC believes that communities can truly thrive only when the essential needs of all members are met. It serves as the leading provider of regular and emergency food support in our region through our work in Flagstaff and beyond by:

• Distributing food boxes from our warehouse on Huntington Drive

• Conducting Neighborhood Distributions at multiple Flagstaff locations

• Serving hot meals and sack lunches from the Kitchen in Sunnyside

• Delivering food boxes to homebound residents

• Working with dozens of schools, churches, and community agencies to maximize our food distribution reach. 

In 35 years, our work has grown exponentially to meet rising needs in northern Arizona.

In 2025, we served 8.2 million pounds of food in the community. That's more than a 10% increase over the previous year's number. That includes more than half a million meals prepared in our Kitchen, and almost 100,000 food boxes distributed either at our events or through our 45 nonprofit partners.

But we know that emergency food assistance alone isn't enough. That's why FFFC has spearheaded the Northern Arizona Hunger Action Partnership, a coalition that brings together community voices and expert perspectives to address the root causes of food insecurity. We also advocate and provide critical feedback to lawmakers on hunger-related issues to protect the people we serve. 

None of this happens in isolation. It happens because donors give. Volunteers show up. Partners collaborate. Community members trust us. And together, we create something greater than any one of us could achieve alone.
