Grand Canyon Youth

Grand Canyon Youth offers educational outdoor expeditions that connect young people to the transformative power of the rivers and canyons of the Southwest.

Based in Flagstaff, AZ, Grand Canyon Youth (GCY) has been in operation for 27 years. Since 1998, we have served over 13,500 youth from Arizona and beyond. We collaborate with families, schools, youth-focused organizations, and social service agencies to provide 1-18 day expeditions for young people aged 10-19. Our nonprofit works hard fundraising year-round to ensure cost is not a barrier to participation. In addition, we offer direct financial aid to all youth applicants. By making our expeditions as affordable as possible, we are increasing access for diverse youth to experience the spectacular and often inaccessible rivers and canyons of the Southwest. On our expeditions, scientists and other professionals in their fields facilitate hands-on science and art projects with youth participants, including data collection for real field science projects, and model a multitude of career paths. We envision a diverse and equitable world where all youth are empowered to live with purpose while discovering and caring for self, community, and the natural world.
