Helping families and individuals dwell in dignity by providing furnishings and essential household items to transform a house into a home.
More About Us
On any given night, there are approximately 3,500 individuals who are homeless in Maricopa County. Furnishing Dignity is able to assist a fraction of those individuals (3% to 5%) to dwell in dignity with current resources. There are also over 18,000 children in foster care in Maricopa County, with half of those children never returning to family and aging out of system at 18 years old without the necessary resources. Once an individual or family requests assistance, a qualification checklist and application/wish list are completed on the telephone to determine appropriateness of services and long term stability of the individual or family. Furnishing Dignity then meets with the individual or family at their residence to measure for furniture and customize the list of furnishings to meet their particular needs. Furnishing Dignity's dignified approach includes working with the family to identify those things that will help to transform their house into a home. A mutually agreeable move-in date is set and volunteers are recruited to help sort, clean, pack, move and set-up the furniture and household items for the individual or family. Only new mattresses are provided to our clients and this is one of the organization's largest expenses. Since the first move on July 15, 2015, Furnishing Dignity has helped over 700 individuals dwell in dignity and assisted them on their path to self-sufficiency. 92% of those served have successfully remained in permanent housing. Furnishing Dignity believes everyone deserves to dwell in dignity.
