More About Us

On any given night, there are approximately 3,500 individuals who are homeless in Maricopa County. Furnishing Dignity is able to assist a fraction of those individuals (3% to 5%) to dwell in dignity with current resources, once referred by a partner organization. Once a partner, along with the individual or family, submits an application for assistance, Furnishing Dignity meets with the case worker and family at the family's new home to determine their essential furniture and household needs. Our dignified approach includes working with the family to identify those things that will help to transform their house into a home. A mutually agreeable move-in date is set and volunteers are recruited to help sort, clean, pack, move and set-up the furniture and household items for the family. Only new mattresses are provided to our clients and this is one of our largest expenses. Since our first move on July 15, 2015, we have helped over 300 individuals and dwell in dignity and assisted them on the their path to self-sufficiency. 89% of those served have successfully remained in permanent housing. Furnishing Dignity believes everyone deserves to dwell in dignity.
