Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra's mission is to enrich, engage, and inspire our community through the transformative power of orchestral music.

At a time when so much competes for our attention, live music offers something increasingly rare: the opportunity to be fully present. To listen. To reflect. To experience something larger than ourselves, together.

At the heart of our work is a simple belief: Musical engagement contributes to well-being, growth, and connection. Through our concerts and outreach programs, we create space for community, expression, and joy, for audiences of all ages throughout northern Arizona.

Connection and Presence

Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra (FSO) concerts offer a way to step away from the world and into soundscapes new and old. Whether shared with friends and family or experienced individually, live music invites both connection and reflection—at once personal and collective.

Learning and Discovery

FSO’s Link Up program, in partnership with Carnegie Hall, connects the classroom with the concert hall. Nearly 2,000 students in grades 4–5 throughout northern Arizona engage in a yearlong music education curriculum and then perform with FSO in a joyful culminating concert each spring, an experience that builds confidence, creativity, and a lasting connection to music.

Well-Being and Emotional Expression

Through the Lullaby Project, in partnership with the Teenage Parent Program at Summit High School, Flagstaff Doulas, and The Guidance Center, new and expecting parents work alongside FSO songwriters to create personal lullabies for their children. The Lullaby Project supports early childhood development while strengthening emotional bonds among families and offering a therapeutic avenue for expression and interpersonal exploration.

Access and Community Impact

From free chamber concerts to outreach at the Winslow Correctional Facility, FSO ensures that live orchestral music remains accessible across northern Arizona. Our programs reach more than 11,000 people each year, creating opportunities for impactful musical experiences across generations and communities.

Why It Matters

These experiences—whether a student’s first performance, a parent’s lullaby, or a moment of stillness in the concert hall—are made possible through community support.

On Arizona Gives Day, we invite you to support Flagstaff Symphony Orchestra and help sustain the role that live music plays in the life of our community.
