Having a deep compassion for animals, we bring awareness through education, support through fostering, and life through adoption.
Desert Cat Rescue & Sanctuary of Arizona is a dedicated animal welfare organization that provides essential support for cats throughout Arizona. Our mission is to promote animal rescue, responsible pet ownership, veterinary care, and adoptions to ensure every pet has a chance at a better life.
Our rescue cats receive veterinary services, including medical care, spay/neuter procedures, vaccinations, and microchipping, to help keep pets healthy and reduce pet overpopulation. Through our adoption programs, we work tirelessly to place rescued animals into loving, forever homes.
Our impact is strengthened through key community partnerships with organizations such as SEACUS - Meals on Wheels, the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, Desert Cross Veterinary Hospital, and multiple PetSmart Store Adoption Centers in Tucson & Green Valley, AZ. These collaborations allow us to provide vital community programs, including:
• The Pet Stop Pet Food Pantry - helping families in need feed their pets.
• Happy Pets ~ Meals on Wheels - delivering pet food to homebound seniors.
• Discount Spay/Neuter Voucher Program - making affordable veterinary care accessible.
• Adoption Partnerships - finding homes for rescued animals.
At Desert Cat Rescue & Sanctuary of Arizona, we are committed to improving the lives of pets and their owners through compassionate care, rescue efforts, and community-driven support programs. Together, we can make a lasting difference in the lives of Arizona's animals!
DESERT CAT RESCUE ADOPTION PROGRAM:
Desert Cat Rescue is dedicated to finding loving homes for rescued cats while ensuring they receive top-quality veterinary care before adoption. Every cat in our program undergoes essential veterinary medical services performed by a licensed veterinarian, including:
• Spay/Neuter surgery
• SNAP testing (to screen for common feline diseases)
• FVRCP vaccination (protection against rhinotracheitis, calicivirus, and panleukopenia)
• Rabies vaccination
• Microchipping for identification and safety
Since April 28, 2018, Desert Cat Adoptions has proudly partnered with PetSmart and currently works with multiple PetSmart Store Adoption Centers, in Tucson, AZ & Green Valley, Sahuarita, AZ. This partnership has helped us find forever homes for hundreds of cats each year! Our adoption numbers reflect our impact: 412 adoptions in 2020, 611 in 2021, 664 in 2022, 402 in 2023, and 403 in 2024.
We are committed to saving lives and ensuring every cat receives the care and love they deserve.
DESERT CAT RESCUE DISCOUNT SPAY/NEUTER VOUCHER PROGRAM: This initiative aims to reduce pet overpopulation and promote responsible pet ownership by making spay/neuter services more accessible.
SENIOR COMPANION PROGRAM: The Senior Companion Program is a heartwarming initiative that pairs senior citizens with older or special-needs cats in need of a loving home.
HAPPY PETS~MEALS ON WHEELS: Providing pet food for Meals on Wheels recipients. Dedicated to supporting homebound seniors and their beloved pets.
THE PET STOP PET FOOD PANTRY: This program was created in partnership with St. Vincent de Paul in Safford, AZ, to support local families in need. Alongside essential food boxes, The Pet Stop provides pet food to help alleviate the stress of feeding beloved dogs and cats.
Through community support and partnerships, we continue to expand our reach and serve those who need it most. Whether for a short-term crisis or ongoing assistance, Desert Cat Rescue & Sanctuary of Arizona is here to help both pets and their owners!
I first came across Desert cat rescue when they were looking for fosters on Facebook. I'd never done anything like that before but I had room and wanted to help. After a home inspection and interview with the director, I got my first foster kitties. They were scared kitties rescued from a hoarding situation but in time they became part of my family. I have continued fostering for the last several years and it is so rewarding to see a scared kitty come out of it's shell, or an injured kitty recover and find a forever family after difficult beginnings. The hearts of the volunteers and allies in the community are what make me proud to be a part of this rescue.
