Daring Adventures

A nonprofit organization

Improving the lives of people with disabilities and significant life challenges through the power of outdoor recreation.

Daring Adventures began as a part of the City of Phoenix Parks and Recreation program that serves youth and adults with disabilities, both visible and invisible or facing significant life challenges that effect a person's daily life. Over the past 30 years, Daring Adventures has helped people reach their Everest by taking more than 2,071 people whitewater rafting since we started rafting trips in 1991. Other programs we offer are adaptive hiking, cycling, cross-country skiing, sled hockey, camping, backpacking and kayaking. These programs and events are possible due to Daring Adventures' large variety of adaptive recreation equipment and dedicated staff and volunteers trained to assist individuals in need.

The goal of Daring Adventures is to bring out the adventurous spirit in everyone. With Daring Adventures, all the equipment is provided for you, caring and professional staff and volunteers are provided to teach you the fundamentals, and it's affordable. Program fees vary from program to program and include a wide variety of services and equipment. Scholarship assistance is available for those who need financial assistance in order to participate.

Testimonials

I love to do things I would not have been able to do without adaptations. The staff encouraged me to try new things and I felt safe doing it.

I was really busy this year and it was nice to just have to show up for the camping trip without all the prep I would've had to do if it was all on me. I had a blast with the talent show (don't normally do that!) and loved how we just went cheerily on despite all the rain. The hiking was great and i appreciated the time alone to ride my bike. I was all set to do PSC again but had to go out of town.

I strongly believe in the "power of outdoor recreation." I feel we are all connected to this earth and our souls are energized and replenished when we take time to enjoy her majesty and beauty. People with disabilities and/or significant life challenges deserve the opportunity to experience it just as much as everyone else.
