Child & Family Resources

A nonprofit organization

At Child & Family Resources, we build strong communities where children can reach their full potential.

Today in Arizona, 1 in 4 children lives in poverty. Over 60,000 children need emergency food each week. More than 19,000 children are in foster care, and over 65% of children do not attend preschool. Given these realities, it's hardly surprising that many Arizona children are at risk when it comes to their well-being and readiness to learn and succeed in school and in life.

At Child & Family Resources, we envision a time when investing in child well-being is valued and understood, and made a priority in every state in the nation. Well-being involves much more than just meeting basic needs. It's about health and stability, self-confidence and resiliency. It's making sure that there is a strong foundation when life's storms hit. We envision communities where all parents have the support they need to raise healthy children, and that all children have the opportunity to reach their full potential, regardless of their background or income.

With these goals in mind, we focus on preventing problems before they start. A child's most critical years are 0-5. Every day we work one-on-one with parents, caregivers, children, and child care professionals to help them provide the best guidance and care needed for each child's success. Recognizing that a multifaceted approach gives the best results, we work with teens to cultivate life skills and help them make healthy life choices, creating a stronger next generation of parents, caregivers and community members. Our evidence-based programs work, and bring strength and resiliency to those caring for children, as well as to children and youth themselves.

Our comprehensive programs fall under 3 strategic areas:
1) Top-quality child care and early education
2) Early childhood development and healthy parenting
3) Teen & youth empowerment

Testimonials

"We need programs like the AZ Early Intervention Program that start young and help set [children] up for the rest of [their] life. These programs prevent problems, later. The support in our son's life, like that from Child & Family Resources, are part of why we're doing so good. Without them, things would be a lot more frustrating, and they can teach us, and teach him. Encourage us. They make our lives so much better, less stressful. So instead of looking at how far behind he is, we like to say, look how far he's come!"

"Our Family Support Specialist made us feel like she was there, to help us not judge us. I love it. I feel like we have a safety net. She makes you feel comfortable. Feels like a friend coming over. She checks up on us. She's there to tell us, 'You got it! You can do this! You will be good parents.' We know when we have questions, we have someone who can help with answers."

"Being a new mother is a very intimidating role to play. But it's even more intimidating when you find out that your child will be born with special needs… I felt helpless and like I was failing as a mom. I just wanted the best for my son and everything seemed far from it… I lost so much time with him trying to figure out exactly what services were available and if he even qualified. It was exhausting and even more frustrating. Child & Family Resources is a beacon of hope. I have found so much educational, functional, and emotional support for my son and me."

"Being a [YES program] Youth Mentor to me means being a role model. It's such a great feeling having other youth tell you that they look up to you. It's so amazing to me to think that I could have such an impact on a youth's life. This makes me strive to become an even better person. Not just for myself, but for many youth that don't have a very positive influence in their life."

" I'm proud of the young mother I have become for my child. Although my journey has just begun, I'm happy with where I stand!"
