More About Us

At AWEE, our focus - our only focus - is workforce development. Since 1981 we have helped more than 200,000 Arizonans find jobs, keep their families together, become financially independent and contribute to our community. AWEE provides the tools for change, independence, self-reliance and community revitalization to advance Arizona's workforce.

Providing someone with the opportunity to earn dignity through work is giving them the power to change their life. AWEE provides critical job and life skill training for women and men who seek gainful employment and sustained economic independence. Our course offerings help individuals through transitional periods in their lives, equipping them with the necessary skills to re-enter the workplace and placing them on a career path to success. The people who turn to us for employment training are smart, talented and motivated. It is truly inspirational to watch them achieve their dreams of more fulfilling and viable careers.

Angela Raw was in an abusive relationship from the age of 14 and had attempted to escape many times. As so often happens, the abuse began to spill out in front of her children. Right then, she made the decision to get out at all costs. She found AWEE and completed a series of workforce development workshops, earned a short term certification and completed an internship. She secured full time employment with a career pathway and was promoted within a short period of time. With ongoing support and resources from AWEE, Angela is moving forward to show her kids how hard she's working "to give them a better life."
